Baptism COVID-19 Protocols

From the SACRAMENTS AND LITURGICAL PROTOCOLS, Issued by the Archdiocese of Agana. Updated May 6, 2020 at 12:40 PM

Procedures

  1. There shall be no water in the Baptismal font.
  2. The priest or deacon is to bless an unopened bottle of water for the rite, opening it only at the point it will be used in the rite.
  3. For the anointing, add a small amount of each required oil onto a separate sterile cotton pad (cf. can. 10002 subsection 2) before the start of the ritual. Use these for the anointing and burn immediately after the rite.
  4. *In the event a sterile cotton pad is not available, the outer glove may be used, but must be burned after the rite. Do not dip your glove into the oil container; pour a small amount onto your glove so as to not contaminate the contents of the oil bottle.
